Features of a SR Joinery Loft Conversion

Staircases

All our staircases are made individually for each conversion, the staircase is the last major installation before the plastering, and this keeps all the dust to a minimum. The staircase is made from pitch pine for the stringers and newel posts and most steps apart from the winders unless stated for staining reasons. The spindles for the staircase are made from pine with about 10 choices to pick from.

Lighting

The lighting to the new rooms and landing areas are in most cases spot lighting, lights come in five different colours, white, chrome, gold, steel, we build into our price this choice.

Power Sockets

We also allow four double power points to each room and a mechanical extractor to the en-suite if required.

Windows

The windows to the sloping areas of the room will always be Velux roof windows, we have fitted these windows for over 20 years with no problems, and they also offer a large selection of roof window blinds. The windows or doors to the upright walls of the conversion will be uPVC as standard unless otherwise specified, French doors with Juliet balconies are very popular now, and I also think they make a very good means of escape in case of fire.

Roof

The roof materials used on our dormer roofs are of high performance materials and will last 25 years minimum. The facias and soffits on the dormers are uPVC and will match existing materials on the house.

Heating

The heating to the new rooms will be Barlow type radiators, we will work out the size of the radiator depending on the size of your new room, and these are normally fitted with thermostatic type valves.

Wall Finish

All the loft conversions we construct are beautifully plastered as opposed to being dry lined like most of our competitors.
